Teaching Programme
In collaboration with my professor, Dr. Rakesh Biswas (Prof. & Head, Department of Medicine), we have devised a novel teaching programme which enables interested students and stakeholders to embrace a mode of online asynchronous learning using WhatsApp and Blogger blogs.
The programme is titled - "Case Based Blended Learning Ecosystem" and involves sharing deidentified patient data on blogger blogs and sharing them on WhatsApp to enable a system of online learning, discussion on approach to the patient's problems and facilitating review of literature to best address those patient problems. Patient related outcomes are our priority.
The programme is devised for –
- Undergraduate students
- Interns
- Postgraduate students
- Global network of students on our WhatsApp groups
The stated objectives of the teaching programme are –
- To improve history taking with a focus on patient-centred problems.
- To perform a targeted clinical exam with video demonstration of relevant clinical signs.
- To perform a critical and clinically sound analysis of the history and physical exam and generate a list of differential diagnoses.
- To perform interpretation of laboratory data and demonstrate an understanding of test characteristics by performing a review of literature.
- To demonstrate procedural competencies on video.
Medium in which the programme is conducted – WhatsApp groups and Blogger blogs
This programme will be subjected to a QI (quality improvement) methodology and will be periodically audited against an established set of benchmarks and the results of each cycle will be published in this blog.
